Summer 2016

The G.I.R.L.S (Gaining Interest in Research Leadership and Science) program allows elementary girls going to grades 3-5 to participate in STEAM activities. The overall goal of the G.I.R.L.S. Program was to increase the skills, interest and confidence of elementary school girls to pursue careers in STEAM fields. This program encompassed activities that integrated these fields by using research-based instructional practices. Through participation in this program more than 93% of the girls have developed an increased interest in STEM by joining other STEM clubs in the local community. Students are continuing to meet and gather data to assess the impact of the program on science grades in school.
